Schell Games has announced in a press release that its virtual reality escape room experience, I Expect You to Die, has earned more than $3 million in revenue across all platforms. The game released in 2016 for the PlayStation VR, Oculus Rift, and HTC Vive.
“The team put a lot of heart and hard work into I Expect You To Die and the success we’ve achieved definitely shows our passion for this project,” said CEO Jesse Schell. “With support from fans, gamers, and techies who have played I Expect You to Die, we’ve proved that virtual reality can become a mainstream platform and its future is looking incredibly bright.”
I Expect You to Die puts players in the shoes of a secret agent who has to escape dangerous situations by solving puzzles. The game received continuous support post release, including free DLC.
In our review, PlayStation LifeStyle’s Chandler Wood praised the game for its “brilliant” puzzles and replayability, and noted that it’s one of the most immersive PS VR experiences available.
I Expect You to Die was one of the best-selling PS VR games in months after its launch, and reappeared in the PS Store download charts in late 2017.
