Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom Is Enduring Another Delay

Monster Boy

A statement was delivered by FDG Entertainment that stated Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom will once again be delayed, this time due to physical distribution issues. The game was originally delayed until November 6, 2018, but now faces a release date for December 4, 2018.

In case you missed it, here’s Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom ‘s E3 2018 trailer.

If you’re unfamiliar with the game, it’s a side-scrolling, 2D platformer that puts you in the shoes of Jin, a young hero with the ability to morph into different animals. The game look like it will be a vibrant, hand-drawn stunner, implementing unique abilities with certain animal forms to both overcome enemies and environmental obstacles.

FDG Entertainment understands the frustration that comes with a delay, and had this say regarding the unfortunate news:

This is a difficult one.

Unfortunately the production of the physical card/disc package ran into unforeseen difficulties. This forces us to reschedule the release once again, we’re very sorry about that. It turned out that the physical goods manufacturing takes longer than initially planned and we could only choose between rushing out in time or complete the Day-1 edition properly with keeping our promises of its content.

There was no question: we’re now reaching a 5 year production cycle of Monster Boy and it didn’t make sense to us to have an incomplete physical release so we decided to give the manufacturing process more time so the physical release can shine as the game itself. So much polishing, so much work – we don’t want to see a half-baked physical release.

While it’s certainly a shame, I think we can all deal with a one-month setback. There have certainly been worse delays over the past two years.
