Darksiders Board Game Officially Unveiled, Exclusive to Darksiders: Genesis Nephilim Edition

THQ Nordic recently announced two separate collector’s editions for Darksiders: Genesis, the Diablo-style Darksiders title from Airship Syndicate. Coming packaged in the more expensive of the two editions is an official board game—Darksiders: The Forbidden Land. Finally, more information about the board game has emerged. The sad part is THQ Nordic’s confirming fans can only pick up the board game by purchasing Darksiders: Genesis‘ $380 Nephilim Edition. In addition, only 5,000 copies of the Nephilim Edition will be produced worldwide.

In Darksiders: The Forbidden Land, four friends adopt the roles of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse: War, Death, Fury, and Strife. A fifth player can join in and play game master, someone responsible for the monsters. If a fifth player isn’t an option, the game features rules concerning how monsters and enemies should behave.

Darksiders‘ Four Horseman will each have unique asymmetric abilities in the board game. Card management will be critical to player success; once a player’s deck runs dry, that’s it, game over for them.

The Darksiders: The Forbidden Land board game will pack in all of the following contents:

  • 61 Miniatures
  • 124 Tokens
  • 36 Multi-Hex Modular Boards
  • 423 Cards
  • 4 Player Boards
  • Custom Dice
  • Rulebook
  • Campaign Book

Featured in the Campaign Book will be The Forbidden Land’s story, which includes more than 19 levels, grouped into numerous scenarios. Depending on the preferred length of a game session, players will have to decide how to complete each of the scenarios.

At the time of writing, Darksiders: Genesis still lacks a release date. However, the title will launch sometime this year for the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, PC, and Xbox One. Fans should probably expect a launch date announcement during gamescom 2019, which begins August 20th and ends on August 24th.
