Rockstar Detailed Red Dead Online’s Upcoming Specialist Roles

Rockstar Games has gone into detail as to what will be included in the upcoming Red Dead Online update. The highlight is a trio of specialist roles, as well as new content and improvements. You’ll be able to choose from the Bounty Hunter, the Trader, and the Collector, all of which have their own unique abilities and features.

Bounty Hunter

The Bounty Hunter role is what you’d expect: You earn cash for taking out wanted targets. You’ll have the choice to capture your targets alive, but doing so will require your trusty lasso. Other players can also become targets for you to track, and eliminating or capturing them will reward you with unlockable items like enhanced tracking skills and upgrades.

Collector

As the name suggests, the Collector’s goal is to explore the open world and find items to hoard or sell. As you find more items, you unlock better tools to help refine your search, like the Refined Binoculars and metal detector. This specialist role is less action-packed than the Bounty Hunter and is aimed towards players who like to explore at their own pace.

Trader

Finally, the Trader is similar to the Collector, but leans more into the economic aspect of the role. The aim is to turn your Camp into a business, focusing on furs, skins, and butchery, as well as looking for any chance to gain a profit. As you sell more items and establish yourself, you’ll gain access to a weapons locker, stew pot, and other useful features to enhance your business.

Aside from the roles mentioned above, the upcoming Red Dead Online update will include updates and improvements. Changes will be made to combat and movement that will “allow for a more responsive control system that still feels natural.” More items will be scattered throughout the world for you to loot, and adjustments to a Defensive player’s damage reduction will be added, as well.

We currently don’t have a solid release date for when this will go live, but we’ll let our readers know when we get confirmation of that. If you still haven’t gotten your hands on Red Dead Redemption 2, the PlayStation Store’s Summer Sale has it on sale for $38.99 right now.
