Multiple Sources Now Reporting That a Twisted Metal Game Is in the Works to Coincide With TV Series

Journalist and industry insider Jeff Grubb has claimed to have heard from his sources that a new Twisted Metal game is in the works, and Sony plans to launch it alongside the previously announced television series.

It’s unclear if the new game is a remake/remaster or a continuation of the franchise, which hasn’t seen a new entry since the 2012 PlayStation 3 game.

The reliable folks over at Video Games Chronicle have said that Grubb’s report “matches” what they have heard from their own sources. A month ago, reliable leaker Tom Henderson too hinted that a new Twisted Metal game is set to release in 2023.

“I think Twisted Metal is in the works but it may still be a ways off, so I think we’re early,” Grubb said in a paywalled Giant Bomb video show. “That speaks to a larger strategy shift from Sony – well, it’s not even a shift, it’s a ‘broadening’ of their strategy. If they have Twisted Metal ready to show, they might. But either way, it does seem like it’s in the works, it does seem that it’s coming, and it does seem like it does not involve David Jaffe.”

Grubb’s comment about Jaffe’s involvement is interesting because according to Jaffe, Sony reached out to him to discuss the Twisted Metal TV adaptation. When the rumor of a new game surfaced, Jaffe dismissed them claiming that he would have heard something if it was true. He added that he would be “hurt” if Sony is indeed making a new game without talking to him about it.

We’ll update our readers when we have more information.
