Tales of Arise Bug

An Infinite Loading Screen Bug in Tales of Arise is Preventing Players From Completing the Game

There is currently a bug in the recently-released Tales of Arise where the game is unable to load, becoming stuck indefinitely after a boss fight and leaving players unable to complete the game. Additionally, Bandai Namco has noted that there is another bug that prevents game data from installing. Bandai is currently investigating both issues and has listed ways for players to prevent and fix the issue in the meantime.

Specifically, the bug occurs right after the boss fight with Balseph, in which the game becomes stuck on a loading screen indefinitely. Similarly, Bandai Namco has confirmed that there is currently an issue where the game’s installation will stop prematurely. In order to prevent the two bugs from occurring Bandai Namco has urged players to download the latest version of the game and avoid opening Tales of Arise before it has fully completed installation.

If players have already encountered the bugs, however, they will have two options. For the post-boss fight loading bug, Bandai Namco recommends players close the application and restart the game, starting from the last save point. For the installation bug, Bandai Namco tells players to delete the game’s data from the console and reinstall Tales of Arise from scratch, again following the previous instructions in order to prevent the bugs from reoccurring. Importantly, it notes that the game’s save data is stored separately from the game data itself, meaning players will not lose any progress if they choose to fully reinstall.

Tales of Arise launched last week on September 10, 2021 for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. A month prior, players had the chance to play a demo that featured the ability to explore and battle enemies. The seventeenth installment of the Tales of franchise features gorgeous graphics suited for next-gen consoles, as well as a darker storyline that has evolved with fans of the series over the course of nearly two decades.
