Rocksmith PS3 Delisted

Original Rocksmith and its DLC Being Delisted from PlayStation Store, Rocksmith 2014 Edition Will Remain

Ubisoft  will be removing the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of the original Rocksmith from their respective stores over the upcoming weekend. This includes the removal of all DLC for this version of the game. However, Rocksmith 2014 Edition on PS3 and PS4, as well as all of its DLC songs, will remain available for the time being.

Rocksmith will be removed from all digital storefronts on October 17, 2021. A Sunday removal date sounds a bit weird, but this is because it marks exactly ten years since the game was released and is likely due to the expiration of licenses. The DLC will then “follow over time” with the exact delisting schedule to be detailed on the Ubisoft forums (again, likely due to ten-year licenses that will each expire in the order they released). The following DLC songs will be the first to be removed at some point in November:

  • Lynyrd Skynyrd – “Free Bird”
  • Radiohead – “Bodysnatchers”
  • The Black Keys – “Tighten Up”
  • Boston – “More Than a Feeling”
  • Deep Purple – “Smoke on the Water”
  • The Allman Brothers Band – “Jessica”
  • T. Rex – “20th Century Boy”
  • Three Days Grace – “I Hate Everything About You”
  • Vampire Weekend – “Cousins”

Those who already own Rocksmith and any of its DLC songs will still have access to their purchases beyond the date of removal. The content can be downloaded from your purchase history on the PlayStation Store. Anybody who previously purchased the Disc Export Access to transfer the 2011 songs to Rocksmith 2014 Edition will also be able to continue using the songs in the 2014 version. The delistings will not include Rocksmith 2014 Edition or any of the DLC for this game; all of this content will remain on the PlayStation Store at this time.

The team also promised to announce more details for Rocksmith+, the upcoming subscription service that will be available on multiple platforms. Originally due to launch on PC this summer, Rocksmith+ was delayed until next year following feedback from the closed beta.
