Cyberpunk 2077 May Finally Let Players Transmog Their Outfits

The latest Cyberpunk 2077 update has sneaked in an interesting bit of code which may hint at the ability to hide a player’s outfit coming in the near future. Formally known as “transmog” in the gaming community, the feature would allow players to change the appearance of their character while maintaining the stats of their gear. If that’s the case, players will no longer have to make a choice between looking cool and protecting themselves — a sacrifice that many fans of the game have been asking developer CDPR to address.

How to transmog in Cyberpunk 2077

Unfortunately, the transmog feature has not been fully implemented into Cyberpunk 2077 just yet. As reported by XFire, however, Reddit user and Cyberpunk 2077 modder DJ_Kovrik found code within the game’s files that reference a transmog system currently in the works. Specifically, the new code appeared in the latest 1.5 patch which released alongside the game’s PS5 upgrade. While it’s disabled for now, the modder found that players could enable the feature for head and face slots. Going further, DJ_Kovrik was also able to create their own mod that enabled the feature for all outfit slots.

It’s a noteworthy development, considering fans of the game have been asking for the feature ever since the game launched. As they progressed through the game, players would often find themselves at a crossroads: Should you keep wearing that nice jacket that you like, or opt for the hideous rainbow vest that gave you better defense stats? Considering Cyberpunk 2077’s focus on stylishness, many players found the choice a hard pill to swallow.

That being said, the feature in its current form technically isn’t a transmog. Rather, it’s the ability to hide outfits that you don’t want to see on your character. Transmogging is also in the base game in the form of wearable Special outfits, but they are few and far between and only come in fully-body pieces. Considering CDPR specifically calls it “transmog” in the game’s code, however, it’s still something to look forward to.

In other news, Fall Guys has received a mid-season update that adds PC and PS4 crossplay. Sony Pictures’ chairman has also hinted at a possible Uncharted movie franchise.
