Horizon Forbidden West Update 1.09 Patch Notes

Horizon Forbidden West Update 1.09 Fixes Crashes, Stuck Characters

Guerrilla Games has released the Horizon Forbidden West update 1.09 that fixes multiple issues with the game. While Horizon Forbidden West is a brilliant achievement, especially the fast loading times on PS5, there are still many lingering graphical issues and quest bugs, some of which the patch addresses.

What does the Horizon Forbidden West update 1.09 fix?

Looking through the full list of patch notes in this 1.09 update, available on a post on the game’s official Reddit, many places where characters were stuck have been fixed. Players, NPCs, or objects would get stuck in invisible collisions, behind an energy shield, in the ground under water, beneath various types of terrain, inside walls, in a rock, and in a strange glitch where Aloy would respawn in an out of bounds area around the Kappa Cauldron. (Yep, it’s a lot.)

In the initial post for the patch notes, the developer was rather vague when it wrote that it had “rebalanced several combat mechanics,” prompting several users to ask for more details. In response, Guerrilla Games posted a lengthy reply on the extent of the changes; in fact, it’s long enough to sound like a patch for a fighting game. It adjusts everything from enemy cooldowns to staggers and the critical damage multiplier for the corrosive property, to lowering the starting base stats for legendary weapons and armor.

While the update does address some issues related to the graphical shimmering or sharpness, Guerrilla Games acknowledges that it needs to continue making “tweaks to the game’s content with the goal to reduce visual shimmering.” The developer is also aware that the “Upgraded Every Pouch Type” trophy doesn’t seem to trigger correctly for some players, and the icons for Firegleam and Metal Flowers sometimes don’t disappear.

In other news, the PlayStation Plus Collection will still remain a benefit to PS5 subscribers, and Riot Games will reportedly be bringing Valorant to consoles.
