Swords of Gargantua Servers Shut

Swords of Gargantua to be Left Unplayable When Servers Close Later This Year

Thirdverse has announced the online servers for their PSVR game Swords of Gargantua will be shut down later this year. This will leave the online arena combat PS4 title completely unplayable less than two years after its release as there are no offline modes within the game.

When will the Swords of Gargantua servers be shut down?

The Swords of Gargantua servers will shut down on September 30, 2022. The game will be removed from the Playstation Store three months prior to this on June 30. In a message on Twitter, as spotted by Distrito Metaverso, Thirdverse confirmed the game would no longer be playable on PSVR but players could move over to the Meta Quest, Meta Rift or Steam VR versions of the game to continue playing. They went on to “thank everyone who has enjoyed the Playstation VR version since its launch on the platform.”

Swords of Gargantua’s modes included online co-op for up to four players or a single-player mode. Unfortunately, the latter required an online connection at all times, meaning this will also be unplayable once the servers are taken down in September. This leaves just under six months to get as much out of the game as you can, although the Platinum trophy is not possible as multiple trophies have been unobtainable since the game’s launch in December 2020. The chances of these being fixed before the servers are closed are slim.

In other news, No More Heroes 3 will be released on PS5 and PS4 later this year. The title will be making use of the extra processing power in these consoles to overcome the poor performance and graphical issues experienced in the Nintendo Switch version of the game. Elsewhere, CD Projekt Red is working on multiple unannounced projects that may not be part of The Witcher, Cyberpunk, or Gwent universes.
