Ghost of Yotei Developer Sucker Punch Undergoing Huge Change

Sony Interactive Entertainment announced that Sucker Punch lead and co-founder Brian Fleming will step down after nearly three decades. Starting at the beginning of 2026, creative and technical leaders Jason Connell and Adrian Bentley will be the studio heads for the developer that created the critically lauded Ghost of Yotei.

Over the past year, Fleming has been working with PlayStation Studios to find his successors. As a result, Connell and Bentley have been chosen as the new Sucker Punch studio heads as they “have been instrumental in shaping the creative and technical direction of Sucker Punch in recent years.” Co-creative director Nate Fox will remain in his current role.

Connell was co-creative director of the popular Ghost franchise and has been integral in shaping the studio’s identity and storytelling style. Bentley previously led the studio’s engineering and production efforts as technical director. The announcement states that “together, they represent the perfect blend of creative vision and technical excellence that has always set the studio apart.”

“Brian’s vision and leadership have shaped the studio’s culture of creativity and collaboration and established a foundation that Jason, Adrian, and the entire team will build on as they look to the future,” says the announcement.

Sucker Punch’s latest release, Ghost of Yotei, was released for PS5 in October 2025. When it launched, it garnered favorable review scores. According to the review aggregate site Metacritic, it received an average score of 86 across 133 critic reviews. It was nominated for multiple awards at this year’s The Game Awards.

Ghost of Yotei is currently available for the PS5 on the PlayStation Store for $69.99, and is PS5 Pro Enhanced. There is a Digital Deluxe Edition that costs $79.99, and includes tons of goodies, including an exclusive Armor, Armor Dye, Horse & Saddle, and more.
