A new game in a fan-favorite action RPG series has been confirmed, and its release window suggests it’ll be a PS6 game. Hawk-eyed fans perused Dambuster Studios’ latest financial statements, which reveal that all of its developers are now hard at work on Dead Island 3. However, the game isn’t expected to release until at least 2028.
Dead Island 3’s 2028 release date window practically confirms it’s a PS6 game
Dambuster Studios says that Dead Island 3 is targeting a Q1/Q2 2028 release window, but this is just an estimate, and release dates can slip. Even if Dead Island 3 meets its development deadlines, a 2028 release practically guarantees a PS5/PS6 cross-gen launch.
“After release of Dead Island 2 Ultimate Edition in October 2024, the primary focus for Dambuster Studios is now Dead Island 3,” the report states. “Parts of the game are now in early production with feature, character, world, and story design moving at pace.”
Dambuster added that once the Luna and Mac versions of Dead Island 2 are complete, its entire QA team will also be moved to the third game.
A bit of an unceremonious reveal for a beloved franchise, but we’ll take it.
