PS5 RPG Ballad of Antara

PS5 Exclusive RPG Quietly Canceled a Year After Reveal (Updated)

A PS5 console exclusive dark fantasy action RPG has quietly been canceled, according to a concept artist for the game. Ballad of Antara was supposed to launch sometime in 2025, but we haven’t received any news or updates since September 2024.

PS5 exclusive RPG Ballad of Antara was revealed during May 2024’s PlayStation State of Play

Announced during May 2024’s PlayStation State of Play, Ballad of Antara is (or was?) in development at TipsWorks, set to be published by Infold Games (Infinity Nikki). It looked promising in its reveal trailer, and the 14 minutes of gameplay footage we received in September of that year looked pretty decent, too.

There have been no updates since.

A Reddit user spotted a tweet from a now-deleted X account of a concept artist with over 2,000 followers, who went by the name yuehai2000. The user shared character designs that they had made, in response to which a follower asked what game they were for.

“A canceled game project titled Ballad of Antara,” yuehai2000 replied. Although the account has been scrubbed, we can still see the original tweet.

If true, it seems that Ballad of Antara was canceled sometime a year after its announcement. The game’s website is still live, but its social media pages ceased posting by the end of 2024.

UPDATE (January 9, 2026): We have some more information that warrants an update. The artist in question has returned to X with a changed username and now goes by lingchang2000. They have also deleted the tweet we originally embedded above. We can confirm that we saw the tweet, and a record of it can also be found on Reddit.

Additionally, llingchang2000 has other tweets about Ballad of Antara that are still up, in which they shared their work on the game. One such tweet can be seen below (we screenshotted this time for obvious reasons):

Now, here’s where things get interesting. I went digging to see if lingchang2000 may be misinformed about Ballad of Antara’s cancellation, perhaps because they were replaced by a different artist at some point. However, I came across tweets from a relatively less-known Chinese insider dated early September 2025, in which they claimed that Ballad of Antara “is about to be canceled.”

We’re hence leaning towards this report being true, but it’s also possible that Ballad of Antara’s development has been paused.

Lingchang2000 probably scrubbed their tweet because they weren’t supposed to divulge this information and don’t want to jeopardize future prospects.
