Fan-Favorite Action RPG Gets New Update 7 Years After Release

Ubisoft’s popular action RPG franchise, Tom Clancy’s The Division, is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. Although both the original release and its sequel were released years ago, that isn’t stopping Massive Entertainment from updating both titles. In an upcoming update, the developer is bringing new content to The Division 2, including a hardcore Realism Mode.

What is the new The Division 2 Realism Mode?

In a recent announcement from Ubisoft and Massive Entertainment, The Division 2’s Realism Mode essentially introduces a hardcore mode to its Warlords of New York expansion. This will bring reduced time to kill and realistic weapon damage. It would also brings reduced UI elements, no health regeneration, scarce ammo, and longer skill cooldowns.

There are a couple of caveats to The Division 2’s Realism Mode. It is available exclusively for the Warlords of New York expansion, which means players can’t play the hardcore mode in the main game and will need to purchase the DLC to play the mode. It will also only be available during the Anniversary season, beginning in March, which means the mode will be removed once the season is over.

Ubisoft and Massive Entertainment also teased the upcoming Anniversary season, which will see The Division 2 crossover with other Tom Clancy franchises. This includes outfits inspired by Rainbow Six Siege X, Ghost Recon, and Splinter Cell.

The end of the Anniversary season will kick off the beginning of Year 8 of The Division 2. Ubisoft and Massive Entertainment will reveal more details about the future of the game in March.

Last month, The Division received an update that introduced enhanced performance for PS5 owners, including 60 frames per second performance. This seems to be in preparation for the unannounced The Division Definitive Edition, which was spotted due to an advertisement posted at an esports event.
