March just began, and there are already exciting games to play on the PS5. One of those is the highly anticipated PlayStation first-party game, Marathon, which revives the classic first-person shooter developed by Bungie.
What is Marathon?
Marathon is a first-person shooter series that was originally developed by Bungie and was first released in 1994. The latest entry, simply titled Marathon, is an extraction shooter set on the planet Tau Ceti IV. Players can get a group of three together or play solo as they scavenge the planet for loot, as they go against other players, as well as other threats the planet holds.
Here is a brief description and trailer of Marathon, giving players a glimpse of what to expect from PlayStation’s extraction shooter:
“Infil into the dark sci-fi world of Tau Ceti IV: A derelict colony rife with rival Runners, hostile UESC security forces, and hazardous environments. As you scavenge its zones for valuables with a crew or alone, tense moments of exploration break into fast-paced PvP combat where gunplay is responsive, time to kill is low, and preparation is rewarded.”
There are two editions of Marathon available on the PlayStation Store, both of which are available for PS5. The Standard Edition costs $39.99 and just includes the base game. The Deluxe Edition is $59.99 and includes a Premium Rewards Pass Voucher, 200 SILK Rewards Pass Tokens, Weapon Cosmetics, and Runner Cosmetics.
This is just one of several PlayStation first-party games scheduled to release this year. Saros will release for PS5 on April 29, and Marvel’s Wolverine is slated for a September 15 release. Both will be available to purchase on the PS Store when the launch later this year.
