PS5 Update for April 2026 Stealth Drops UI Redesign

Sony is quietly rolling out a new PS5 UI update for April 2026 featuring minor but welcome improvements. As noted by users who’ve received the update, Sony has slightly changed the menu bar on top of the home screen, splitting up tabs for PS Store, PS Plus etc.

New PS5 UI update not available to all players yet

Reddit users have been sharing screenshots of the changes, showing what the new PS5 menu bar looks like. One such image can be seen below:

As we can see in the image, the top menu bar separates tabs for PS Store, PS Plus, games, library etc. You can switch between them using L1 and R1 buttons on the PS5 DualSense controller.

I personally think the UI looks neater and more convenient to navigate, but it would be fantastic if Sony added folders and full UI themes!

As for who has this new update, it looks like the changes are being rolled out to PS5’s beta program participants.

For those not familiar with the beta program, it allows participants to test new system software updates and features ahead of their global rollout, with the idea that player feedback will guide development. Beta changes may or may not become final.

We’ll update our readers when this PS5 UI update is available to all players.
