Capcom‘s latest 2026 release is out soon and seeing stellar reviews, potentially hinting at an early Game of the Year contender.
What PS5 game could be an early GOTY contender?
Pragmata, Capcom’s latest action-adventure game, is set to be released on April 17, 2026, and early reviews suggest the game will be a must-play. On OpenCritic, the game has debuted with a score of 87, and 94% of the critics reviewing it recommend the title. Scores for the game range from the high eights to perfect scores across the board, putting the game squarely in the early running for what could be the best game of the year.
On IGN, Michael Higham called the game a “punchy shooting action and a creative hacking-puzzle gameplay mechanic make combat the true highlight of Pragmata. The story may seem like an afterthought, but its sci-fi drama gives enough to see it all the way through and experience this satisfying third-person shooter.”
Eurogamer’s Dom Peppiatt praises the game as it “dares to tackle sci-fi shooter convention in a proudly experimental gamble.” GameSpot’s Steve Watts says “Pragmata offers a robust post-game with plenty to do, but I hope that’s not the last I see of Hugh and Diana. This combination of sharp combat mechanics, rich strategic depth, and lovely storytelling doesn’t come along often. Pragmata shouldn’t be missed.”
PlayStation Lifestyle’s own Tyler Treese said “Pragmata is 2026’s most unique game so far, with its blend of puzzles and third-person action being a total blast. Anyone looking for a fresh experience will want to check it out, as it’s unlike nearly anything else and has a gorgeous sci-fi world to explore as well. Capcom’s recent hot streak isn’t ending yet, as the publisher continues to pump out game of the year contenders at an unprecedented rate.”
