When is the release date window for the new Aliens video game?
Released as part of IGN First’s May cover story, the new trailer confirms that Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 will arrive on PC and consoles in Summer 2026, although an exact release date has yet to be announced. It opens with a voice transmission from Dr. Lily Pierce on planet LV-558, the sequel’s primary setting. From there, fans get tiny glimpses of the gameplay, filled with explosions, guns, new gadgets, and, of course, plenty of aliens to shoot at.
Developer Daybreak Games has confirmed that Fireteam Elite 2 will support full crossplay between PC and consoles. Players can also choose a new customizable class, called the Specialist, which can mix and match abilities from other classes. At launch, the sequel will include a Horde mode with its own maps, where players can win increasingly valuable rewards while trying to survive the enemy onslaught.
The original Fireteam Elite was a standalone sequel to the first Alien trilogy, following the Colonial Marines of the USS Endeavor dispatched to planet LV-895 to rid it of hostile Xenomorphs. Following its release in 2021, the original game continued to get updates, including new maps, classes, and skins, along with a Nintendo Switch port. The developers haven’t announced if the sequel will arrive on the Nintendo Switch 2.
Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 is being developed for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
