Sega has dropped some fresh details, a new trailer, and a release date window for its promising upcoming PS5 action adventure game. Developed by Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, Stranger Than Heaven is a Yakuza series origin story spanning five decades. The game’s cast includes Snoop Dogg.

Stranger Than Heaven will release in Winter 2026. It’s billed as a 50-year saga set between 1915 and 1965.
“San Francisco, 1915. Our story begins as a young boy sneaks aboard a mysterious ship in the dead of night. His name? Makoto Daito,” the plot reads. “After losing both of his parents and finding himself completely alone, Makoto, in an act of desperation, decides to risk it all and travel to his mother’s birthplace. If the United States won’t accept him for who he is, maybe Japan will…”
Stranger Than Heaven’s cast includes the late actor Bunta Sugawara, whose family granted Sega permission to use his likeness.
