New PS5 UI Update Apparently Reverted, Players Confused

Last month, Sony stealth-dropped a new PS5 UI update that brought some welcome improvements, but in a rare move, the company seems to have pulled the changes. Players who received the update claim they woke up this morning to find their UI had been reverted to the original one, leaving them confused.

Sony quietly rolled out PS5 UI update to select users at random in April 2026

As a reminder, the (slightly) redesigned UI was rolled out back in April to select users around the world at random. No one knows Sony’s selection criteria, but we can confirm that the update wasn’t specifically rolled out to PlayStation beta program participants.

There was no word from Sony about the changes, but photos and videos of the redesign were widely shared across gaming forums and social media.

Fast forward to this morning, and it’s all gone.

We’re not sure if this is a glitch or if Sony has actually pulled the update. The latter would be a rare move from the company.

If you somehow missed all the new UI hoopla, here’s an explainer that includes a video. We’ll keep our eyes peeled and update our readers when we have more information.
