Just before the weekend, Sucker Punch Productions announced that Ghost of Yotei multiplayer will not receive any further major updates, leaving players upset. The Legends co-op mode was released as free DLC in March, and its last major update was released in April, making this a one-month affair.
Ghost of Yotei multiplayer’s ‘Raid’ was its last major update
Although Ghost of Yotei Legends’ Raid update was released in April, it wasn’t until last week that Sucker Punch revealed that it was the mode’s last major update.
“The Raid update was our last major planned update for Legends,” the studio confirmed on the PS Blog. “It finishes the story of the Yōtei Six in that mode. We’ve loved to see players playing it, continue to play it and enjoy it. It’s been great.”
Fans understandably aren’t taking the news well.
“It’s really disappointing to see that, many people were expecting more content for Legends, but it seems our hopes are shattered,” wrote one player. “This is really disappointing,” another concurred. “We waited so long for new Legends, and after a short time, it becomes repetitive. Really poor move to not add more survival maps or 120 gear.”
“Wow, looks like we are the ones that got sucker punched,” a third opined.
To be fair to fans, month-long support for a highly anticipated mode was a bit unexpected, especially since Sony loves dabbling in live service elements. But there wasn’t any money to be made here, I guess.
