IO Interactive has confirmed that the highly anticipated 007 First Light will feature robust PS5 Pro upgrades. The game will launch with all the enhancements, so PS5 Pro owners won’t have to wait for post-launch patches.
007 First Light PS5 Pro upgrades include PSSR 2.0 support
PS5 Pro players can expect the following enhancements when 007 First Light launches:
- PSSR 2.0 support.
- Cleaner visuals, e.g., “dense foliage of outdoor environments to the close-up detail of character work in cinematic moments,” per IO Interactive.
- Less shimmering, flickering, and other graphical noise.
- Better visuals in sequences involving motion.
- Sharper character presentation, e.g., hair and clothing fabric.
“Upgraded PSSR gave us a meaningful jump in image quality across the board — cleaner, more stable, and noticeably sharper on the kind of fine detail that’s hardest to get right,” IO Interactive technical director Henrik Schlichter said on the PS Blog. “It’s a clear upgrade for our PS5 Pro players.”
“We integrated upgraded PSSR in about a day and were essentially happy with what we saw straight away,” added principal render engineer Jon Rocatis. “No per-scene tuning, no special-case work — it just held up across the whole game. That’s not something we get to say very often about a piece of new tech.”
007 First Light will launch next week on Wednesday, May 27.
