PS5 players have been venting their frustration as a major console feature remains busted a month after it was taken offline. The “Recently Played” and playtime tracker functions are still broken for millions, and despite the issue making headlines in gaming media, Sony remains silent.
PS5 ‘Recently Played’ feature and playtime tracker have been busted since mid-June
PlayStation LifeStyle was the first outlet to report on the Recently Played issue, as I’m personally affected by it. Since then, the topic has been covered by major outlets, but there’s no sign of a resolution from Sony.
A quick recap: a significant number of PS5 players can no longer see their recent game campaign and trophy progress on the PS App or the PS5’s Recently Played widget in the Welcome Hub because games played after May 2026 don’t seem to register on the PlayStation network. I’ve heard reports that the bug mainly affects disc-based games, but players with digital games have also reported the same issue.
Basic information, like hours played and campaign completion percentage, has been wiped out. As someone who regularly uses the Recently Played feature, I can understand why this is frustrating. The issue continues to spawn dozens of threads on gaming forums and social media, two of which I spotted within the last hour alone.
Sony could do with better communication with their players, especially after the recent physical production fiasco, but I digress.
