New PlayStation 5 Controller Model Seemingly Arriving in Early 2027

A regulatory filing suggests that Sony will be releasing a revised model for its pricey PS5 controller, the DualSense Edge, in early 2027. Hawk-eyed fans spotted official documents for an incoming Sony Interactive Entertainment product that has the same code as the high-end controller.

Revised PS5 DualSense Edge controller model possibly outed by FCC documents

As shared by ResetEra user Red Kong XIX, the filing was posted on the FCC’s website with the model number CFI-ZCP2. The current DualSense Edge model is numbered CFI-ZCP1.

According to the filing, a user manual and photos of the product will be available in January 2027, suggesting a Q1 release.

Since the documents don’t offer complete information, it remains to be seen what changes the revised DualSense Edge would feature. Players are hoping for an improved battery life and quality of rubber.

DualSense Edge features changeable stick caps, personalized controller profiles, replaceable stick modules, mappable back buttons, adjustable trigger lengths, and much more.

“Built with high performance and personalization in mind, this new PS5 controller invites you to craft your own unique gaming experience so you can play your way,” Sony says.

First released in 2023, the DualSense Edge comes in black and white colors, and costs $199.
