PlayStation Studios typically releases a few games every year, but one series has a history of releasing in March: MLB The Show. Like clockwork, PS5 players will be playing MLB The Show 26 this March, and it features a returning cover athlete.
Who is MLB The Show 26’s cover athlete?
The MLB The Show 26 cover athlete is the New York Yankees’ Aaron Judge. Fans of the series will know that the three-time American League MVP was the cover athlete for MLB The Show 18. The cover features Judge in the Team USA World Baseball Classic uniform, which San Diego Studio teases will be part of its Diamond Dynasty mode for this entry. Check out the trailer below announcing the cover athlete.
“Aaron continues to rewrite history. He was our cover athlete in 2018, after a record-breaking rookie year in 2017,” says the post about Judge. “He’s now a 3-time AL MVP, 7-time All-Star, 5-time Silver Slugger award winner, AL single-season home run record holder with 62 homers, and the 2026 Team USA World Baseball Classic Captain. These are just a few highlights from his long list of achievements, and Aaron’s performances have not only inspired players on the diamond, but athletes and fans around the world. We’re excited to have him back as the cover athlete of MLB The Show 26.”
MLB The Show 26 will launch for PS5 on March 17. Players who purchase the Digital Deluxe Edition will get 4-days of Early Access starting on March 13. Preorders for both versions will open on February 3 at 12 p.m. ET.
San Diego Studio revealed that the MLB The Show 26 official gameplay trailer will also drop on February 3. Alongside in-game footage, the trailer will feature updates on features “you know and love,” as well as some “special surprises.”
PlayStation Studios is also releasing its extraction shooter Marathon on March 5.
