Most Anticipated PS5 Pro Update for Hit RPG Finally Revealed

One of the PlayStation 5’s biggest games is officially getting a major update as CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077 receives its PlayStation 5 Pro patch this week.

What’s new in Cyberpunk 2077’s update?

In a recent post on the PS Blog, CD Projekt Red detailed what fans can expect in the new, free PS5 Pro, which is available on April 8, 2026. The new update brings with it some of the PS5 Pro’s biggest benefits, including 4K visuals, enhanced performance, advanced ray tracing, and more to the hit sci-fi game. According to the blog, the new update heavily utilizes PlayStation’s Spectral Super Resolution, better known as PSSR.

As a result, Cyberpunk 2077 gets a big upgrade in its ray tracing technology, with the lighting in the game getting a major upgrade in the way the neon-soaked buildings and cars all look in Night City. The PS5 Pro update also implements BVH8 (8-way Bounding Volume Hierarchy) to support the ray-traced lighting, shadows, and more.

In terms of performance, this means Cyberpunk 2077 targets 40 frames per second on PS5 Pro on the game’s “visual mode.” On its Performance Mode, on variable refresh rate-enabled devices, the game reaches up to 90 frames per second while maintaining a high fidelity.

The full list of games that will support PlayStation 5 Pro’s PSSR 2.0 includes:

  • Silent Hill 2
  • Silent Hill f
  • Dragon Age: The Veilguard
  • Control
  • Alan Wake 2
  • Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II
  • Final Fantasy VII Rebirth
  • Nioh 3
  • Rise of the Ronin
  • Monster Hunter Wilds
  • Dragon’s Dogma 2
  • Crimson Desert
  • Assassin’s Creed Shadows
  • Cyberpunk 2077

The new PSSR 2 is big for the PS5 Pro. According to PlayStation, the new version of PSSR is something the company has been working on for some time, and “takes a very different approach” than how it has in the past. Resident Evil Requiem was the first title that uses the new PSSR and will keep both the frame rate and image quality of the game.

Players can turn the enhanced PSSR on or off in the system’s settings, under the Screen and Video settings in “Video Output.”
