Zipper: PS3 Makes MAG Possible, Others Can’t

One of the key and intriguing features of MAG is its ambitious 256 player online component. Zipper Interactive comments on why MAG “is what the PS3 can do and few others can”.

Zipper‘s Senior designer for MAG Scott Rudi spoke to VideoGamer at a recent event in London, the designer doubted whether it was even possible for PlayStation 3 exclusive MAG to be a multiplatform game and be developed on other formats.

I don’t even know if it’s possible for multiplatform.

We’re using so many architectural features unique to the PS3, like the Cell system, that I would be hard pressed to – and I’m not a programmer or anything – but from what I’ve been hearing, this is what the PS3 can do and few others can.

When asked if it was possible for MAG to work on Microsoft’s Xbox 360:

As a game player I’d love to see someone else try.

PlayStation LifeStyle recently sat down with Seth Luisi, Director of Development, Zipper Interactive and spoke about the exclusive, as he explains why 256 was the right number. Check out the interview here.

The PS3 exclusive has been released today in North America and will be released this Friday for the UK. Expect PSLS’s review of shooter later this week.
