Max Payne 3 Multiplayer Trailer Shows Bullet Time Feature, Gang Wars & Payne Killer Modes In Action

Rockstar has released a new trailer for the multiplayer modes of Max Payne 3.

The trailer consists entirely of in-game footage from Max Payne 3‘s multiplayer modes. The multiplayer includes Bullet Time, which slows down time, allowing players to take down enemy players or dodge bullets. It can only be applied to enemy players in the player’s line of sight, though. Bullet Time may have different levels of strength in multiplayer, as “Level 2” and “Level 3” Bullet Time are shown in the HUD in the lower-right corner of the screen. Bullet Time is described in the trailer as a “burst” and is one of several bursts available to players, with other bursts to be announced “soon.”

The first multiplayer mode covered in the trailer is Gang Wars, the marquee multiplayer mode of the game. In Gang Wars, players will be part of warring gangs and factions from the single player game in constantly evolving story-based scenarios. As the gangs compete, new, branching storylines dynamically change objectives based on the outcome of each round.

The other multiplayer mode is Payne Killer, which gives players the chance to assume the role of Max Payne and his partner, Raul Passos. They’ll be challenged by other players, who will assume the identity of Raul or Max if they’re killed by them. Killing them won’t be easy, though, as both have plenty of ammunition and painkillers. The trailer says that players will have to use teamwork to stay alive in Payne Killer.

The trailer closes with some more footage of the multiplayer, the Max Payne 3 logo, the game’s release date, and a message that the game’s special edition is only available to pre-order until April 2nd.
