Movie-Streaming Service EPIX Coming to PS3, Vita

If Netflix, Hulu Plus, Crackle and all the other video-stream apps you currently have on your PlayStation 3 aren’t enough, perhaps EPIX will fill whatever void you have left. That’s right, “the big new movie channel that’s more than just a big new movie channel” is coming to both the PlayStation 3 and PS Vita.

For those that don’t know, EPIX is a cable channel that provides movies from Paramount, Lionsgate and MGM—so yes, you’ll be able to stream The Hunger Games to your PS3 when the service is made available sometime in the first quarter of this year. Additionally, EPIX will be coming to the Vita sometime this spring.

Unfortunately, you’ll only be able to take advantage of this application if you’re already subscribed to EPIX via your cable service provider. As such, you can’t take advantage of this service without going through your cable company, which is a bit of a bummer.

Are you a current EPIX subscriber? Are you looking forward to this addition to the PlayStation’s suite of video-streaming apps? Let us know in the comments below.
