Capcom Details the Reasons Behind Resident Evil: Revelations not Coming to PS Vita, Game Includes a Platinum Trophy
Considering that Resident Evil: Revelations came out on the Nintendo 3DS last year, it seemed like the PlayStation Vita would be the ideal system to port the title to, rather than the PlayStation 3, which will be getting the game in May.
When asked by PSN user Stargazr about the reasoning behind the lack of a PlayStation Vita port of Revelations, Mike Lunn, Product Manager at Capcom, gave this answer:
Hey Stargazr, when we were developing Revelations for new platforms we really wanted to hone in on the experience you get with a large format screen, surround sound, etc. This type of setup really helps players get sucked into the horror vibe and enjoy the game to its fullest extent.
He then replied to another question that asked why the Vita version isn’t happening, considering it should be easier going from one handheld to another:
3DS and PS-vita infrastructure let alone developing games for them are extremely different beasts. Even just the screens as you mention are completely different resolutions/functions[…]
A few other pieces of information were also dropped, which we compiled below:
- There will be a platinum trophy.
- The development team went back and re-textured/re-created the models.
- Versus mode isn’t planned.
- It won’t be 3D compatible.
Control options and more will be detailed as the release date approaches, so check back to PSLS for all your Resident Evil: Revelations news.
