Report: Sony’s PS4 Virtual Headset Skipping TGS, Release Date Currently set for Fall 2014

While we’ve already let you know of a few details regarding Sony’s VR headset that is supposedly being made for the PlayStation 4, GI.Biz has posted an article about this new peripheral, shooting down rumors of a TGS reveal (CVG has since refuted their TGS reveal info). The reason it’s skipping TGS is because Sony doesn’t want to distract consumers ahead of the PS4 launch in November, and there also wouldn’t be enough games to show off the headset.

Though they don’t cite any sources, just claiming that Sony held a top secret meeting with developers and publishers to show off the VR headset, the article does claim that it uses the PS4’s PlayStation Camera for head tracking. With this added benefit, people are saying that it is more accurate than the Oculus Rift.

The VR headset appears to have a fall 2014 release date as of right now, with prototypes – that look like Oculus’ headset with ping pong balls attached – in the hands of developers.

When do you think Sony will officially announce their headset? Let us know in the comments below.
