On the US PlayStation site, Sony announced that they will be ending Facebook support on PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, and PlayStation TV in January 2016.

Not giving a reason for the dropped support, Sony also revealed that the Facebook app for PS Vita and PS TV will be disappearing from the PlayStation Store (get it while you can) by the end of today, September 15.

Here’s their statement on the matter:

In January 2016 Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. will terminate support for the Facebook features integrated within the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita systems, as well as the Facebook applications for PlayStation Vita and PlayStation TV. In anticipation of this change, the Facebook applications will no longer be available for download from PlayStation Store as of 15 September, 2015.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and we appreciate your understanding.

Sony does note that the January 2016 timeframe “may change depending on circumstances.”

Will you be affected by the Facebook termination on PS3, PS Vita, and PS TV?
