The Flame in the Flood Comes to PS4 in January 2017

Released earlier this year on PC and Xbox One, The Flame in the Flood is coming to PlayStation 4 in January 2017, Curve Digital and The Molasses Flood announced today. Titled The Flame in the Flood: Complete Edition, it includes gameplay enhancements and a brand new Directors’ Commentary, as well as a dynamic theme and two avatars.

A wilderness survival game set in post-societal America, The Flame in the Flood sees a girl, Scout, and her dog, Aesop, traveling on foot and by raft down a procedurally-generated river. Throughout the game you’ll visit fractured islands, search for resources, craft tools, heal wounds, avoid the vicious wildlife, and try to stay healthy.

Lead Designer Forrest Dowling talked about how beneficial Aesop is:

The good news is that this isn’t a solo undertaking, your faithful canine companion Aesop will be with you every step of the way. He can carry things for you, spot resources and warn of threats. Should you die on the river (and you will) any items that Aesop is carrying will be transferred to your next playthrough allowing you to plan ahead for hazards in your next run. Along the way you’ll also meet other survivors trying to scratch out a living in the flood. Some will offer aid, others are just looking out for themselves.

Dowling added, “The additional content and gameplay enhancements very much make this the definitive version – we can’t wait to get it out there.”

The development team on The Flame in the Flood is made up of people who previously worked on games in the BioShock, Rock Band, Guitar Hero, and Halo franchises.
