Rocket League Update 1.28 Removes “No Flip” Speed Exploit

With Rocket League update 1.28 yesterday on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, developer Psyonix has removed the “No Flip” speed exploit, which gave PC players an unfair advantage over console players in cross-play.

“Don’t get attached to No Flip. Not intended,” Design Director Corey Davis said earlier this month, before explaining why Psyonix is against it: “No Flip is macroable & isn’t taught to the player anywhere in game. Intentionally obtuse execution != raising the skill ceiling.” You can read Davis’s full statement about NoFlip over on Reddit.

Here’s the full list of patch notes for the latest Rocket League update:

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed a trade window issue causing painted item attributes to be incorrect.
  • Fixed an issue causing increased boost and air turn speed before the first kickoff in some cases: This issue was addressed in an earlier server-side update, and this client update will ensure its effectiveness
  • Faulty “Dodge Forward” binding that caused the “No Flip” speed exploit has been removed

Earlier this month, it was revealed that Rocket League crossed 25 million players and one billion games played.

Competitive Season 4 of Rocket League will begin in early April, and it will mark the beginning of a more regular Competitive Season schedule.
