In the summer of 2008, Sony Computer Entertainment and Nissan introduced the GT Academy event, giving a Playstation fan the opportunity to leave behind the virtual world of Gran Turismo 5 Prologue and participate in an actual endurance race.

In January 2009, GT Academy winner Lucas Ordóñez took his Nissan 350Z GT4 across the finish line of the TOYO Tires 24h of Dubai endurance race. This landmark event proved that drivers with extensive training experience in Gran Turismo could transfer their skills to real tracks in real racing cars.

Lucas’s incredible year can now be viewed on Dave from Saturday April 4, 2009 at 7pm. For a total of 5 weeks, the GT Academy Series will take you behind the scenes of the Silverstone final, Lucas’s intensive driver training, and the race itself, ending with an hour long special recapping the entire journey. Episodes will be repeated on Wednesdays at 7:30pm and at 11:00am on Saturdays.
