Resistance 3 is Already Playable From Start to Finish

A third installment in the PlayStation 3 exclusive Resistance franchise was first seen via a billboard which showcased Resistance 3 and its logo. During Sony’s gamescom press conference Insomniac Games’ CEO Ted Price took the stage to officially announce the shooter. The studio’s development period for a Resistance game was altered for Resistance 3 as it will launch 3 years after Resistance 2, as opposed to its normal 2 year development cycle. Despite being 8 months away from its release, the shooter is already playable from start to finish.

Insomniac’s Community Manager, James Stevenson, was discussing the Resistance 3 VGA trailer on the NeoGAF forums – which was released yesterday – when he surprisingly stated the game is already playable from start to finish. Sure, there is a lot of polish to be added into Resistance 3 but the fact the game is already playable throughout the entirety of the story is intriguing. Stevenson said:

“We’ll get into this more on the Full Moon Show, I think… and we have to be careful about discussing exactly where we are in dev… but we totally have a lot of content done (2 years of dev so far) w/ a lot of polishing to go.the game is playable start to finish on disc though, which is pretty insane for an Insomniac game w/ this much time left.”

While 3D technology and PlayStation Move is getting increasingly popular with the bigger titles such as Killzone 3 to name but a few, Stevenson also addressed questions to if Resistance 3 will utilize motion and 3D tech — he said the decision (or announcement) is TBD.

As revealed by the Resistance 3 VGAs trailer the game is currently scheduled for a launch on September 6th, 2011.
