Insomniac Games’ New Era Begins in 2012

It was during the middle of last year that Insomniac Games announced its departure from the realm of first-party titles. After over a decade of hit games from the Spyro, Ratchet & Clank, and Resistance series, it was finally determined that the company would lay down its sword in hopes for a bright new future on multiple platforms. Although this doesn’t mean that the exclusivity of Resistance is over, it does mean that a new era has begun.

If you’re wondering when Insomniac Games will be releasing its new multiplatform IP, then look no further than Twitter. The following was posted on Insomniac’s personal account:

“well, dream not, we are quite busy on our PS3/Xbox 360 new IP for 2012 :-)”

Insomniac is currently hard at work on the PlayStation 3 exclusive first-person shooter, Resistance 3, as well as a co-operative adventure with Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One. Given that the team is dedicated to supporting Sony’s hardware, it’s very likely that we’ll continue to see some outstanding exclusives on the PS3 platform, but they probably won’t be as frequent.

So what is the new IP? Could it be the next generation in platforming? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
