CyberConnect2 Opens Teaser Site, Possibly for New .hack Project

CyberConnnect2, the developer behind the Naruto video game series and the upcoming Asura’s Wrath, has launched a website teasing a new reveal six days from now.

The message on the website reads simply “This page is opened 6 days after.” What makes this even more interesting is that Namco Bandai is teasing a new .hack project to be revealed 6 days from now, on the same exact day as CyberConnect2’s reveal. In the past, the company used this term to identify both its anime and its games. At this point, it remains something of a mystery as to which it will be.

Now if you’re curious as to how those two mix, then remember that CyberConnect2 is responsible for developing the past .hack games, so it might be a safe bet that they are working on the new game. The last game in the series to release in North America was .hack//G.U. Vol. 3: Redemption, which released in 2008 for the PlayStation 2. Japan received the PSP title .hack//Link in 2010. Despite a few fan petitions, it never went international due to mediocre sales expectations and general low quality. During and after Link‘s development, CyberConnect2 repeatedly went on record saying that it would be the last .hack game, including the company president saying so before a live audience at the 2009 Tokyo Game Show.

You can view both teasers here and here. If this is indeed more than coincidence, what would you like to see from a new .hack game?
