DC Universe Online Continues to Boast Impressive Numbers, Playerbase Grows

With DC Universe Online having become free-to-play from November 1st, the MMO has gone from success to success, pushing Sony Online Entertainment’s servers to the limit. The latest figures released by SOE’s President John Smedley show that demand for the massively multiplayer game hasn’t waned nearly a month on.

Smedley tweeted:

Really happy with how DCUO is doing. Here are some interesting facts.

DCUO’s playerbase is growing at 6% a day.. great to see all the new players!

Continuing:

700% increase in daily revenue (47% PC / 53% PS3)

More than 85% of daily log-ins are returning players.

Additional character slots and the Vanguard of the Heavens character skins are the two most popular marketplace items

After becoming F2P, DCUO gained 120k PC registrations in 2 days and a million multiplatform gamers in 11 days. Unfortunately, the surge in players has caused SOE’s servers to buckle under the strain, with many gamers forced to wait an extremely long time to be able to get online.
