New Footage of Uncharted: Golden Abyss’ “Intu-Aim” Feature

The Uncharted series on PlayStation 3 uses a traditional button and analog stick third-person shooter control style for all of its controls, including combat. Uncharted: Golden Abyss for PlayStation Vita, however, will have another option for combat called “Intu-Aim”, that the developer yesterday said allowed for more precise controls than ever before.

“Intu-Aim” is the use of the PlayStation Vita’s motion controls — in addition to the right analog stick — to guide Drake’s aiming reticule for greater accuracy. The feature had originally been shown with the sniper rifle, but now has expanded to all weapon use.

As noted on the PSBlog, the “Intu-Aim” feature is completely optional. The game has a more traditional button and analog stick control method for those more used to the control systems from the console Uncharted games.

Producer Darren Yeager shows the feature in action in the video below and does note that it can be turned off:

Uncharted: Golden Abyss — in development at Sony Bend — is a launch title for the PlayStation Vita, which will arrive in North America and Europe on February 22, 2012.
