SSX Now Set To Ship In Late February

Electronic Arts has delayed SSX, the upcoming reboot of the popular snowboarding franchise. The game was originally scheduled to be released in mid-January before it was pushed back to a mid-February release window earlier in the year, but now has been moved back a little further.

SSX is now scheduled for release on the last day of February, the 28th. The game represents a new move by EA & other publishers to position sports titles around the beginning of the year. This past year saw the release of Fight Night Champion in early March and THQ’s UFC’s Undisputed 3 is scheduled for release this coming March. Publishers are beginning to realize that there is a market for sports games early in the year.

SSX was unveiled at the 2010 Spike Video Game Awards to fanfare from the community. The game will feature many different real world arctic environments like the Himalayas and the Antarctic. This first current-gen entry in the snowboarding franchise will feature more open world sections and less invisible walls, EA has said.

Like many other EA games, SSX will have PS3 exclusive content upon release. We’ll surely have more information to help you on the slopes before release.
