Ubisoft Discusses Rayman Origins for Vita, Maintaining Console-Quality Experience a Top Priority

In addition to making sure that Rayman Origins would be out in time for the launch of the PlayStation Vita, delivering an experience that was on par with consoles was Ubisoft’s top priority.

Speaking to VG247, Boujemaa El Hiba, producer at Ubisoft Casablanca explained that while the Vita offers some unique control options, their primary goal was to give gamers the same quality experience that is available on consoles, which meant keeping the core controls intact.

For this project, we had two main objectives: make Rayman Origins part of the launch lineup for PS Vita and offer PS Vita players the same game experience that Michel Ancel brought to home consoles.

While we are excited that we are able to utilize the touch screen and the Near function, but we really had to keep the core of the controls and game intact.

We will surely plan to take full advantage of the PS Vita capabilities in our future projects.

Look for the Vita version of Rayman Origins when it hits retailers alongside Sony’s handheld on February 22nd.
