Twisted Metal Developer David Jaffe to Leave Eat Sleep Play

The beloved car combat franchise Twisted Metal is getting a new entry set to release next week for the PlayStation 3. Unfortunately, it looks like this will be the last installment that lead developer David Jaffe will be behind, as a recent report indicates he is leaving the development team Eat Sleep Play.

According to the Salt Lake Tribune, the co-founder of Eat Sleep Play, Colin Campbell has said that Jaffe will be leaving the team to pursue the development of casual games. Last week the developer laid off eight employees as work on Twisted Metal wraps up and the studio shifts its focus to mobile gaming.

He’s excited to go into the casual space as well. He’s got some projects that he’s excited about. So we’re kind of going down two separate paths.

Jaffe countered the comments made by Campbell on Twitter saying:

The rumors of me making casual games post TM – as many of you define them – are highly exaggerated.

It looks like the future for Jaffe is pretty much up in the air at this point, but considering the quality he produces time and time again, we can’t wait to see what he’ll do next.

Look for Twisted Metal in stores next Tuesday, February 14th.
