Ghost Rider Director To Head Up Twisted Metal Movie

Sony Pictures has reportedly offered Brian Taylor, the co-director behind the upcoming flick Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, a whopping seven figure deal to write and direct a movie set in the Twisted Metal universe.

As any hardcore Sony fan would know, the Twisted Metal franchise is one of the most important and longest running franchises that Sony Computer Entertainment owns, so a quality feature film would be a huge win for the company.

Famed producer Ari Arad is confirmed to be behind the game-to-film adaptation, in addition to his work with Ghost Rider, The Amazing Spider-Man and several other high-profile upcoming releases – possibly including an Uncharted film as well.

According to Deadline, the film will stay close to the original game universe. As one might expect, the car combatants are outfitted in weaponized vehicles as they face off against each other in a fight to the death. Signature characters like Sweet Tooth and Doll Face have been confirmed to be among the game’s cast – obviously.

Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance hits theaters this Friday, so be sure to check it out if you are at all interested in what the future Twisted Metal film might look like. It will be interesting to see how well the movie fares and its overall impact on the director’s decision.
