Mass Effect 3 Protesters Declare Themselves Victorious, Close Child’s Play Fundraiser After Amassing Over $80,000

The “Retake Mass Effect 3” fundraiser protesting the ending to Mass Effect 3, as the campaign has now raised funds that have surpassed the set goal of $80,000. All of the money will go to the gaming charity organization Child’s Play.

This news comes after a response from BioWare’s Ray Muzyka, in which the studio confirmed that “clarity” with regard to the game’s ending will be coming in the not too distant future. Naturally, the protesters have since celebrated their “victory,” as Robb, the spokesperson for the campaign released a celebratory post on their website.

I don’t believe anyone can or should consider this effort to have been anything but spectacularly successful. As evidenced by the statement from Dr. Muzyka yesterday, we have made our voices heard. Those of you here have taken special care to be heard in a polite, positive manner, and I believe that this is a major contributor to that success.

We have shown our sincerity and passion. We have brought positive attention to the Retake Mass Effect movement.

Make no mistake. This effort has been victorious.

This however, doesn’t mean that they’re going to let BioWare off the hook, with Robb adding:

Retake Mass Effect is not over by any means; Dr. Muzyka’s statement was welcome, but did not directly address our concerns. You have been heard. Now it is time to make sure they get the details right.
