Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 2 Coming Next Month

If you’ve been longing to get back into speedy side-scrolling with Sega’s blue rodent, it doesn’t look like you’ll have to wait that much longer, as the second episode of Sonic the Hedgehog 4 is set to launch this May.

Sega has confirmed that the game will be arriving on Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network in Japan on May 16th. Siliconera first spotted the release date in a new Japanese trailer that unveiled the news. A western trailer posted on GameSpot also confirms that Episode 2 will be available in North America at the same time. Sega has yet to make any official announcement regarding when European gamers will be able to get their hands on the title, though we’re willing to bet that they’ll see it mid-May as well.

Episode 2 is long overdue, as Sonic the Hedgehog: Episode 1 was released over two years ago. Unfortunately for fans of the franchise, it doesn’t look like any future episodes are in the works beyond Episode 2, as Sega has made it clear that they’d like to move on.
