Vita Update v1.80 Coming August 28th, Brings Cross-Controller, PSone Support, More

Vita update 1.80 will be coming to the PlayStation Vita on August 28th, finally bringing PSone support to the handheld, along with other features.

The full extent of the PSone support is unknown, as it was previously confirmed to be limited to select titles and only a starting point. The update will also include the ability to control the home screen and some applications, such as Video, Music, or Settings, using the buttons on PS Vita – something we complained about leading up to the handheld’s worldwide launch.

The Video Application will be updated to include variable speed playback, fast-rewind, fast-forward, and repeat play and the Music application has been updated to support music playlists from PS3 and iTunes.

Cross-Controller support will also be coming on the 28th, with an icon added to the LiveArea under the Remote Play application. It will enable you to play select PS3 games using a PS Vita, such as Street Fighter x Tekken (on October 23), PlayStation All-Stars, Sly Cooper, Ratchet & Clank titles and LittleBigPlanet 2. Control on the games differs from a DualShock 3-like substitute, to a full-on Wii U style interface on Vita.
