Japanese sales measurement authority Media Create’s newest sales figures confirm what we were all fearing: Vita system sales went right back “normal” this week. Hatsune Miku‘s assistance was indeed temporary, as sales of her game and the system it’s on took a dive. Having sold 50,000 units last week, the PSV is down to 14,000 this week — perhaps en route to its previous average of around 10,000. Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA f, meanwhile, sold 159,000 last week and dropped to 18,000 this week. It was a pretty slow week for sales overall, so that still leaves the game in fifth place on the software charts, but it’s pretty clear that the Vita is still not a stable product in Japan.

As you can see in this month’s installment of PlayStation JapanStyle, the Japanese release lineup for Vita is pretty thin this month; it’s anyone’s guess as to how much impact LittleBigPlanet and Ys will have, but whatever help they bring, Sony’s gonna be slogging through at least two more weeks of crap before they arrive on the market.
