FuturLab Signs a Deal With Sony to Bring New Content to the Vita in 2013

Just one day before their new PlayStation Mobile title, Surge, releases to the masses, FuturLab has announced that they have signed a deal with Sony. With this, FuturLab will receive funding to help develop content for the PlayStation Vita in 2013, while also retaining control of their IP.

James Marsden (no, not that James Marsden), Managing Director over at FuturLab, talked about the partnership:

We’re incredibly excited to be working closely with PlayStation over the next year, bringing our particular brand of twitchy fun to the PS Vita. Sony has provided a great package that means we retain full control of our IP, which is a perfect deal for us.

As for the Sony side, Shahid Ahmad, Senior Business Development Manager at SCEE, had this to say:

We’re particularly pleased to be working with FuturLab to bring new and exciting games to PlayStation Vita. FuturLab has a unique and fun approach to entertainment and we see their games as being a fantastic addition to the ever growing catalogue of PS Vita games.

This is definitely a good move by Sony, as FuturLab released the awesome Velocity earlier this year and have been supporting PlayStation Mobile quite heavily since its inception.

Also, since FuturLab is so awesome, they included a hidden message within their press release regarding this matter that points towards fanpoweredflight.net, a site with a countdown clock ending in just under 3 days. Featuring the phrase ‘You Asked For It’, we can only hope it points towards Velocity 2.

What do you hope the clock reveals? Let us know in the comments below.
