Disney Infinity Delayed Until August 18th in North America, August 23rd in the UK

Originally planned for a June 2013 release date, Disney has delayed the launch of their Skylanders-esque Disney Infinity until August 18th in North America, August 20th “overseas”, and August 23rd in the UK.

As Disney Interactive Co-President, John Pleasants puts it, they “have moved the launch date for Disney Infinity to August 18 to capitalize on the critical fall retail season.” This shift is also in happening partly because retailers were pushing for a debut closer to the holiday season, but with Skylanders Swap Force expected in October, John said, “We think it’s good to be first and really lean into the most important selling season of the year.”

While Disney Infinity could have been delivered “in June if we wanted to,” they will use this extra time to “add bells and whistles and make sure it really sings and pops.”
